LIGHT THE FIRE! St Patrick’s Day - March 17th on the Hill of Slane beginning at 5pm, with Mass at 5.30pm followed by Eucharistic Adoration.                       

CHRISM MASS takes place on Wed 12th April in the Cathedral, Mullingar.                

ATHBOY ICA next meeting (AGM) will take place on Monday 6th March at 8pm in St James’ Hall, the Kitchen.                                                                                                       

ATHBOY ACTIVE RETIREMENT GROUP: Club Meeting on Wed March 8th 2.45-5pm, Kurling on Thurs Mar 9th 2.30-4.30pm in St. James’ Hall. New members welcome.                                                                                                                 

ATHBOY COMMUNITY SCHOOL presents musical “Little Shop of Horrors” on Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th March. FORMS OF LENTEN PENANCE:                                                                                                     

The following are suggestions as ways of fulfilling Lenten penance:                                          

Abstaining from meat or some other food;                                                                                                                   

Fasting and abstaining one day a week  e.g. Fridays in Lent;                                                               

Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking;                                                        

Abstaining from social media or television;                                                                      

Refraining from being verbally negative or gossipy;                                                       

Attending Mass during the week;                                                                                                   

Making the Stations of the Cross;                                                                                                                                                                   

Participating in Eucharistic Adoration; available every Friday in St. James’ Church;                                                                                

Reading Scripture – Sunday and Daily Readings are available on our parish website ;                                                                                                 

Spending time  with those in our families and community who are old, ill, sad,lonely;                                                                                                                                                        

Giving what we saved from abstaining from various foods, drink etc. to Trocaire.
