ST PATRICK’S DAY – Friday March 17th: Masses are at the usual Sunday times on Friday - Rathmore 9am, Rathcairn 10.15am and Athboy at 11.30am. Vigil Mass on Thursday evening at 7.30pm. St Patrick’s Day is a Holy Day of Obligation. It is also Special Day of Prayer for Emigrants.
BAPTISMAL MEETING: The next baptismal meeting for parents who wish to have their babies’ baptised takes place on Monday April 3rd 2017 at 8pm in the Parochial House. Please enrol in advance to the Parochial House.

CHRISM MASS takes place on Wed 12th April in the Cathedral, Mullingar at 7pm.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY COMMITTEE Seachtain na Gaeilge Sun Mar 12th Flood’s Bar 6-8pm. Join us for an opportunity to speak Irish in a fun setting. On Monday March 13th at 8pm in the Darnley Lodge Hotel there will be a volunteer night for those available to help ahead of the parade.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE commences at 12.30pm. The committee will have designated access for those wishing to view the parade. This area will have wheelchair access and limited seating and is covered.
IRISH CANCER SOCIETY are holding their annual Daffodil Day on Friday 24th March. There will be collection points on the street on that day. Your support would be greatly appreciated. If you have an hour to spare in volunteering on the day please contact Frances on 087 6545856.

The following are suggestions as ways of fulfilling Lenten penance:
Abstaining from meat or some other food;
Fasting and abstaining one day a week e.g. Fridays in Lent;
Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking;
Abstaining from social media or television;
Refraining from being verbally negative or gossipy;
Attending Mass during the week;
Making the Stations of the Cross;
Participating in Eucharistic Adoration; available every Friday in St. James’ Church;
Reading Scripture – Sunday and Daily Readings are available on our parish website ;
Spending time with those in our families and community who are old, ill, sad, lonely;
Giving what we saved from abstaining from various foods, drink etc. to Trocaire.
