THE PAROCHIAL HOUSE: At a meeting of the parishioners on the 28th June 1868, it was resolved to build a new residence. The foundation stone was laid on the 25th of the following month. The Parochial House bears the inscription: “BUILT 1868 BY THE GENEROUS SUBSCRIPTIONS OF THE PEOPLE OF ATHBOY AS A PERPETUAL RESIDENCE FOR THE OFFICIATING CATHOLIC CLERGY OF THE PARISH.” The roof of the Parochial House is now in an advanced state of disrepair and needs to be replaced, as the roof is leaking. The house is a listed building and the necessary permissions had to be received from Meath County Council before any repairs could begin. A consultant was appointed and the job was tendered.
