CEMETERY DEVOTIONS in Athboy take place today Sunday 25th June at 3pm and Old St. James’ at 2pm. Devotions in the Abbey in Rathmore on Thursday August 10th at 7.30pm.                                                                                                                                      

PETERS PENCE:  The Offertory  collection today is for Peter’s Pence. This funds the pastoral work of the Pope.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

DUMPING IN THE GRAVEYARD:  You are requested to bring home any rubbish with you from the graveyard.                                                                                                                   

CHY 4 FORMS: if you have received a CHY 4 form, we would appreciate if you would sign it and return it to the Parochial House before the end of the month. The Revenue Commissioners offer a tax rebate to charities for donations over €250 per year from any individual.                                                                                                       

BAPTISMAL MEETING: The next baptismal meeting for parents who wish to have their babies’ baptised during the months of July and August takes place Monday July 3rd 2017 at 8pm in the Parochial House. Please enrol in advance to the Parochial House.  The next baptismal meeting is scheduled for Mon 4th September.                                               

BINGO in aid of Church funds takes place on Sunday July 9th at 3pm in the Darnley Lodge Hotel. All welcome.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

THE PAROCHIAL HOUSE: At a meeting of the parishioners on the 28th June 1868, it was resolved to build a new residence. The foundation stone was laid on the 25th of the following month. The Parochial House bears the inscription: “BUILT 1868 BY THE GENEROUS SUBSCRIPTIONS OF THE PEOPLE OF ATHBOY AS A PERPETUAL RESIDENCE FOR THE OFFICIATING CATHOLIC CLERGY OF THE PARISH.” The roof of the Parochial House is now in an advanced state of disrepair and needs to be replaced, as the roof is leaking. The house is a listed building and the necessary permissions had to be received from Meath County Council before any repairs could begin. A consultant was appointed and the job was tendered. It has been awarded to Eirim Developments, Moygrehan, Athboy. Meath County Council Build Heritage Investment Scheme has approved a grant of €2,500 towards the cost of the work.                                                                      

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 21-26 AUGUST 2018: The volunteering process has opened for the World Meeting of Families on www.worldmeeting2018.ie/volunteer. In excess of 1,500 already have expressed an interest in volunteering. Everyone who has expressed an interest will need to complete a volunteer form. Applicants must be residents of Ireland and over 18 years of age.                                                                       

ALL IRELAND RALLY FOR LIFE:  Join the tens of thousands as we march to celebrate Life and in support of the 8th amendment on Saturday July 1st in Dublin City Centre. Starting at Parnell Square at 2pm. The keynote speaker is Ms Karen Gaffney who has captured global attention as a long distance swimmer who relay swam the English channel, a witty and impressive public speaker and the first living person with Down Syndrome to receive an honorary doctorate. “I believe that Down Syndrome is a life worth saying “yes” to. It is a life worth saving. Every life has value, every life matters, regardless of how many chromosomes you have,” she says.
