TROCAIRE EAST AFRICA HUNGER CRISIS: Total collection amounted to €2,080.                                                                                  

CHY 4 FORMS: if you have received a CHY4 form recently from the Parish Office, we would appreciate if you would return it as soon as possible. The Revenue Commissioners offer a tax rebate to charities for donations over €250 per year from any individual.

MEATH DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK takes place next Sunday 13th August. Confessions from 11am-5pm. Anointing of the Sick at 2.30pm. Mass at 3pm.                                                                                                                                      

BAPTISMAL MEETING: The next baptismal meeting for parents who wish to have their babies’ baptised takes place Monday September 4th 2017 at 8pm in the Parochial House. Please enrol in advance to the Parochial House.                                                                                      

FR MURPHY A.C. are hosting their annual “Streets of Athboy” 5k road race and fun run on Friday 11th Aug at 8pm. Walkers, joggers and runners all welcome. Minimum age is 15. Register online or on the night from 6.30-7.30pm. Tea and refreshments served after the race and finishing medals for all participants. ATHBOY ACTIVE RETIREMENT GROUP:  Club meeting to take place on Wednesday 9th August 2.45-5pm. Kurling on Thursday 10th August 2.30-4.30pm in St. James’ Hall. New members always welcome.                      

Pilgrimages & Retreats this summer:

Knock- Ireland’s Marian Shrine, season continues until Oct 8th with Mass, Confessions, Stations of the Cross, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament daily. National Novena in honour of Our Lady of Knock Aug 14-22                                                                                                                               

Lough Derg 3-day retreats continue until Sun Aug 13th. One day retreats on various dates throughout August and September. This scared island is a place of prayer and contemplation, a time to come closer to God, offering no distractions, no interruptions.                                                                                                                                    

Youth 2000 Summer Festival - Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary –Aug 17th – 20th for young people aged 16-35. “Come closer, Hear my Word” Donation only. Free buses from various locations. www.youth2000.ie      

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 2018 takes place in Dublin 21-26 August 2018, with families and others from all over the world sharing their experiences and reflecting on different challenges they face and to grow together in faith. Its website www.worldmeeting2018.ie is now live and registration to attend this event is now open. There is also an online application form for those who wish to volunteer. “A Joy for All  the World” – the official hymn for the World Meeting of Families was composed by Meath teacher Ephrem Feeley. The hymn found its inspiration in St. Paulus’s famous hymn to love in I Corinthians 13. It is available to download on the website also.                                 

And when night comes, and you look back over the day and see how fragmentary everything has been, and how much you planned that has gone undone, and all the reasons you have to be embarrassed and ashamed: just take everything exactly as it is, put it in God’s hands and leave it with Him.              St Teresa Benedicata of the Cross
