REST IN PEACE: Your prayers are requested for Anne Mc Conville (nee Wright) Stanmullen whose funeral takes place in Stanmullen on Monday and coming for burial in Athboy around 1pm and Jim Gilsenan, Gillstown.    

 

BAPTISMAL MEETING: The next baptismal meeting for parents who wish to have their babies’ baptised takes place on Monday October 2nd 2017 at 8pm in the Parochial House. Please enrol in advance to the Parochial House.                                                                      

OFFERING DAY:  Sunday next Sept 24th is an Offering Day for the support of the priests of our parish. (Transport Collection)                                                                 

ENVELOPE SERIES:  The current envelope series finishes next Sunday Sept 24th. The committee are in the process of preparing the new boxes for distribution.

ALTAR SERVERS: We thank the Altar Servers and their parents who have gone to secondary school and we welcome our new servers.                                                                                                    

CONFIRMATION takes place on Friday 23rd February 2018 at 3pm.                               

IT IS 700 YEARS ON 17th 2017 since the Carmelite monastery was founded here in Athboy. Our evening Mass on Thursday 17th October will be celebrated by the Carmelites to commemorate this occasion and Bishop Smith will attend. After Mass, Fr Simon Nolan, noted historian, will give a talk on “The Flourishing of Carmel in Ireland” to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the founding of Athboy Friary.                                                                                                               

 RATHMORE CHURCH CHOIR sing at 9am Mass on Sundays and practice monthly. New members welcome. Contact Fergus at 0872063086 or Mary at 0872276756.                                                                                                            

ATHBOY CHURCH CHOIR sing at 11.30am Mass every Sunday in St. James’ Church and practice most Wednesday nights for one hour. The choir is currently seeking new members, both ladies and gentlemen. If you are new to the parish or have ever sung in a choir and feel that you would like to get involved in church music, then why not come along to either Mass or practice and the choir and its Director will be more than happy to meet you.                                                                                                                                           

 WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES:  In preparation for the World Meeting of Families 2018, anyone from the parish who is interested in getting involved is invited to a meeting in the Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim on Monday 25th Sept at 7.30pm. Please contact the Parochial House before next Thursday if you wish to attend.                                                                                  

 EUCHARISTIC ASSEMBLIES for all Adorers in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan on Sat 7th Oct- 9.50am to 4.30pm.                                                                                     

“SPEAK LORD, YOUR SERVANT IS LISTENING” Vocation Retreat Day on Sat Sept 30th 9.30am-5pm for young adults (18-40) in Dalgan Park, Navan. A day of prayer, conversation, and discernment. RADIO MARIA IRELAND is an Irish-run Catholic Talk-Radio station and is available to download free by App “Radio Maria World Family.” Prayer, Catechesis, uplifting music all commercial free with live Morning Prayer at 9.15am followed by Mass.                                                                                                                                                                                                  

SUPPORT FOR NAOISE:  On Sat 23rd Sept 5K fun run/walk at 3pm in Dunderry. Music in Rathcairn later on Sat night followed by an auction. Tickets €25.                   

 ATHBOY RETIREMENT CLUB: Club Meeting on Wed 20th Sept 2.45pm – 5pm. Kurling on Thursday 21st Sept 2.30pm – 4.30pm. in St. James’ Hall.                                                                

 EVENING CLASSES in Athboy Community School commence on Tues 7th November and run for 6 weeks. Enrolments by contacting the school office.   Courses range from Photography, Flower Arranging, Sign Language, Art etc. Brochures in the shops in town.                                                                                                 

ATHBOY DEVELOPMENT FORUM will hold their AGM in the kitchen in St James’ Hall at 8pm on Monday 25th September. All welcome.                               

CHY 4 FORMS: if you have received a CHY4 form from the Parish Office, we would appreciate if you would return it as soon as possible. The Revenue Commissioners offer a tax rebate to charities for donations over €250 per year from any individual.This applies to both self employed and PAYE people.
