On the 17th October 1317, a Carmelite monastery was founded here in Athboy. It was one of the first Carmelite monasteries in Ireland. To commemorate this great occasion Mass will be celebrated by the Carmelites here in Athboy on Tuesday 17th October at 7.30pm. Bishop Smith will attend. After Mass, Rev Dr. Simon Nolan, university lecturer, will give a talk on “The Flourishing of Carmel in Ireland” to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the founding of Athboy Friary in O’Growney NS. All are welcome.                                                                                                                   

BINGO in aid of Church funds takes place on Sunday October 8th at 3pm in the Darnley Lodge Hotel. All welcome.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

BAPTISMAL MEETING: The next baptismal meeting for parents who wish to have their babies’ baptised takes place on Monday November 6th 2017 at 8pm in the Parochial House. Please enrol in advance to the Parochial House.                                            

PARKING IN CHURCH GROUNDS:  We ask able-bodied people to park in the car park and leave parking in the Church grounds for those who are elderly and infirm.                                                                

ENVELOPE SERIES:  The new series of envelopes has begun and the new boxes distributed. Sincere thanks to those undertake to prepare the boxes and those who help in delivering them throughout the parish.                                                                                              

LIST OF THE DEAD are available at the back of all the Churches and have been distributed with the boxes of envelopes.                                                                                            

ALTAR SERVERS: We thank the Altar Servers and their parents who have gone to secondary school and we welcome our new servers.                                                            

MISSION SUNDAY  is on Sunday 22nd October next.                                                             

CONFIRMATION takes place on Friday 23rd February 2018 at 3pm.                              

PUBLIC ROSARY in October to mark the centenary of the sixth apparition of Our Lady of Fatima will take place on Friday 13th Oct at 6pm in Market St., Trim (under the courthouse clock).                                                                                                                             

RADIO MARIA IRELAND is an Irish-run Catholic Talk-Radio station and is available to download free by App “Radio Maria World Family.” Prayer, Catechesis, uplifting music all commercial free with live Morning Prayer at 9.15am followed by Mass.                                                                                                                                                                                                  

EVENING CLASSES in Athboy Community School commence on Tues 7th November and run for 6 weeks. Enrolments by contacting the school office.   Courses range from Photography, Flower Arranging, Sign Language, Art etc. Brochures in the shops in town.                                                                                                               

ATHBOY MEN’S SHED:   Retired; want something to do: drop in to the Men’s Shed Wednesday morning 10am -12.30pm Convent Community Centre, Kildalkey Rd.                                                                                                           

FREE 5 WEEK BASIC iPhone, Ipad, SmartPhone or Tablet classes commencing on  Monday 16th October 2017 from 10am to 12pn for five weeks and also a laptop class on Monday 16th from 1pm to 3pm. Both classes will take place in St. James’ Hall. Contact Meath Partnership: Angela on 046 9280790.                                                      

CONVENT COMMUNITY CENTRE AGM Monday 23rd Oct at 8pm in Room 19. All are welcome.                                                                                                                                           

FUNDRAISER TRACTOR/TRUCK RUN on Sun 8th Oct at the Causey Farm, Fordstown at 12noon. Registration 11– 11.45am. Admission €20.

CHY 4 FORMS: if you have received a CHY4 form from the Parish Office, we would appreciate if you would return it as soon as possible. The Revenue Commissioners offer a tax rebate to charities for donations over €250 per year from any individual.This applies to both self employed and PAYE people. The parish complies with all data proctection and charity regulations.
