October – Month of the Rosary

October Month of the Rosary: the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary occurs on October 7th, and we encourage families to pray the Rosary or part of it during the month.

You must know that when you ‘hail’ Mary,
she immediately greets you!
Don’t think that she is one of those rude women
of whom there are so many — on the contrary,
she is utterly courteous and pleasant.

If you greet her, she will answer you right away
and converse with you!”

-Saint Bernardine of Siena

“The Rosary, precisely because it starts with Mary’s own experience, is an exquisitely contemplative prayer.  By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord’s life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord. In this way the unfathomable riches of these mysteries are disclosed”.       St John Paul II

In times of darkness, holding the Rosary is like holding your Blessed Mother’s hand.

Pray the Rosary every day.

Abandon yourself in the hands of Mary.

She will take care of you.

Padre Pio

Pope Francis suggests three aspects of the Rosary that should motivate us to pray it regularly.

The Rosary is a “compendium of the entire history of our salvation.”

The “Holy Rosary is a powerful weapon against evil.”

Finally, it is “an effective means of obtaining true peace in our hearts.”

“We meditate on the mysteries of Christ, following the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary who was in a special manner associated with the incarnation, passion and glorious resurrection of the Son of God.”   Divine Office
