Your Wedding Day will be one of the most important days of your life. It is right to give it the attention and preparation that it deserves. It is a time of celebration of your love for each other in becoming husband and wife in the company of your families and friends.
You celebrate your love for each other as you exchange your vows and receive the Sacrament of Marriage. Sacraments are visible signs of God’s love for us. Marriage is a special sacrament, which reflects Christ’s love for his Church, loving, living, and giving to the moment of death. The Sacrament of Marriage usually takes place within the Sacrament of the Eucharist and in a church.Your desire to marry in Church invites God to be part of your relationship as you gather with your family and friends around the altar.
In preparing your Wedding Liturgy it is essential to choose music that is sacred or hymns that are dignified and of a spiritual nature to be played or sung in the church. (List of suitable music is available).
The Scripture readings may be taken from the Old and New Testament of the Bible.
Flowers are a beautiful adornment to any ceremony. However, they should not be ostentatious to distract from what is happening, nor should they impede the congregation’sview of the altar. It is inappropriate to place flower arrangements directly on the Altar table as it is reserved for the vessels necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist, nothing should imped the view of the host and chalice. In some circumstances, a florist may not place the flowers in the church until immediately before the ceremony as they may not appropriate to an earlier ceremony such as a daily Mass or a Funeral. Please ask the florist to arrange with the parish priest when would be suitable to place the flowers.
The photographer’s role to to record the wedding photographically. In order to maintain the sense of sacredness and yet facilitate the taking of photographs we ask that the photographer observe the following: no placing of tripods, lights and photographic equipment in the sanctuary area, no photographs during the Consecration or during communion, and movement to a minimum during the ceremony.
